Meet Morgan Petro, PT, DPT

Hi there! I’ve been practicing as a physical therapist in northern Virginia for the past 5+ years. I decided on this career path when I was fed up with the quality of our health care system. As a former collegiate runner, I had been told one too many times to “just stop running” as a solution to my injuries. After getting my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, I went on to pursue a post-doctoral residency in Sports. Since then, I have dedicated my career to helping my patients overcome complex injuries or pain, so that they can get back to doing what they love.

When you work with me, you’ll experience a non-traditional, holistic approach to physical therapy care. I understand how the impact of injury and pain extends far beyond the physical body, often affecting our emotional, spiritual, and mental wellbeing. I strive to get to the root cause of your symptoms, creating a plan that allows you to maximize your potential and restore function. Whether you are looking to heal from an injury or simply improve your wellness, I look forward to being a part of your health care team!

 FAQs

  • The first session is an evaluation that typically lasts 60-75 minutes. We go through a variety of tests for your strength, muscle coordination, range of motion, flexibility, and functional movement. We help you understand your diagnosis and develop a game plan together. During this session, we save time for treatment and initiating a home exercise program for you to follow.

  • I am out-of-network with all insurance providers. I provide an itemized super bill after each session that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement based on your plan.

I chose to be out-of-network so I can focus on what matters most (YOU!) without the constraints and confines of insurance companies. I understand the investment required to seek out of network care, and do my very best to deliver each session. My patients tend to feel better more quickly with less visits, sometimes even saving money compared to in-network models!

  • Sessions typically last between 60 and 75 minutes. After your initial evaluation, we come up with a plan that works best for you!

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that you can move around in. If you participate in a specific sport (running, tennis, soccer, basketball, etc), please bring shoe wear so that we can take a look at that as well. Depending on your injury level/status, expect to move around a bit! :)

Testimonials

  • “I highly recommend Dr Petro for any runner looking to recover from an injury or to improve their running. Dr Petro is very knowledgeable and truly cares about her clients. I’m a Masters runner with a long history of injuries that have been difficult for other therapists to diagnose. Morgan has the knowledge to correctly diagnose my complicated issue and skill to guide me through the rehab process. Morgan’s expertise in running mechanics and her own competitive running career makes it easy to communicate, working within my current ability to reach my goals.” - Scott H.

  • “Dr. Morgan has been so unbelievably helpful to me in my journey towards running pain-free. I came to her after a six-year struggle with shin pain and treatment from multiple physical therapists that did not ultimately fix my pain. Morgan fixed my shin splints and the numerous other injuries I've had pop up as I've trained for half-marathons and marathons. As long as I live in this area I will never see another PT -- Morgan is the best!” - Annie C.

  • “So thankful to have Morgan as my PT! Morgan listens carefully to your issues, asks great questions to help pinpoint the cause, and creates a tailored treatment plan to reach your goals. I have been working with Morgan for running injuries over the past few years, and she's helped me get back out and running strong every time (including helping with a complex sciatic nerve case!). Morgan is an empathetic and knowledgeable PT and she has a genuine care for her patients that truly stands out. I highly recommend Morgan to anyone recovering from a sports-related injury or for general PT!” - Jess D.
